Explaination To the Rise to Rebellion

To make it a bit clear my question had been itching within my mind on how the patriotism has changed throughout the courses of the years here in America. The character which shows this most I believe is Benjamin Franklin, even though Sam Adams is very much or even more the patriot. Yet Benjamin is the one which is most described within the story.
